The new Transition Improvement Grant (TIG) is intended to provide effective, targeted, and low cost professional development to WI LEAs in the area of post-secondary transition. The TIG aims to combine the use of the PTP with improving post high outcomes for students with disabilities by combining the WSTI project ( and WSHSOS project (

• Provide technical assistance to CESAs and LEAs on postsecondary transition services and how to evaluate post-school outcomes data
• Support the work of the WPHSOS Senior Coordinator
• Work collaboratively with RSN Director(s) and other discretionary grants staff to provide technical assistance to targeted schools around improving educational outcomes for students with disabilities (Indicator 3)
• Serve as a state-wide spokesperson, ambassador, and point of contact for the grant. Actively seek opportunities to share information concerning the grant throughout the state, including conference and meeting presentations as requested by DPI
• Develop and maintain a state-wide system of communication via phone, website, electronic newsletters, and other publicly available communication systems
• Work with the DPI Grant Director, grant staff, and web developer to develop, update, and maintain the grant website(s)
• Assist with the development, piloting, and implementation of new tools and resources
• Assist with all aspects of the data collection and reporting responsibilities for Indicator 14
• Lead school teams in reviewing and using their post high data to develop improvement plans
• Provide follow-up to districts using outcomes tools and resources
• Conduct presentations/trainings on the use of data and program improvement
• Develop and disseminate communications materials such as grant project flyers, brochures, and other products

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
• A bachelor’s degree in special education or related field
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in special education post-secondary transition
• Experience in conducting professional development and trainings preferred
• Knowledge of Wisconsin State Performance Plan Indicators (particularly Indicators 13 and 14)
• This position will require extensive travel to CESAs and LEAs across the state
• Effective oral and written communication skills are required
